Choose the use case
For carrying, weight and leak resistance matter; at home, pouring and cleaning may matter more. Compare the same capacity and type: a drinks flask, food container and pump jug serve different needs. External size does not establish usable capacity.
Check every contact material
Request the liner, lid and seal materials and relevant food-contact documentation. A stainless-steel label or grade number does not replace documentation. Check cleaning instructions and whether replacement lids and seals are available.
Compare test conditions
A “24-hour heat retention” claim without start and end temperatures is incomplete. Ask for water volume, room temperature, starting temperature and readings after six and twelve hours. Compare samples under the same conditions. Heat-retention results are not food-storage safety advice.
Inspect a sample before ordering a batch
Check the rim and threads, test leaks with room-temperature water according to instructions, and assess cleaning access and persistent odour after washing. Do not use boiling water for leak checks. Follow the manufacturer’s hot-drink instructions to prevent burns.
Calculate the delivered cost
Buying a single flask locally may cost less. For a batch, include individual packaging, carton weights and dimensions, inspection, freight and defective-item replacement. Send capacity, materials, quantity, colour and destination city. Declare an electronic lid indicator if it contains a battery.
