Find the cause of the draught
Inspect the existing seal and the leaking area. Worn rubber, hardware adjustment or a damaged frame may be responsible. New tape does not replace window repairs. A misaligned sash or damaged glass needs professional assessment first.
Prepare measurements and photos
Photograph the frame, the old seal cross-section and the gap beside a ruler. State the frame material, lengths and fixing method: groove-mounted or adhesive. D, E and P profiles have different sections; the letter alone is not an adequate specification.
Check what six metres means
A pack may contain two three-metre strips rather than one continuous six-metre length. Request each strip length, total usable length and a drawing. Compare the delivered cost per metre of the same profile, allowing for cutting waste.
Check the material and fitting conditions
Request EPDM or alternative material specifications, service conditions and the separate adhesive application temperature. Test a sample on a prepared surface following the instructions. An oversized seal can prevent closing. Keep ventilation and drainage openings clear.
Decide whether importing makes sense
For a few windows, compare a local option because freight can erase the saving. An installer or shop may benefit from consolidating several tested sizes. Send the required length per profile, colour, packaging and destination city for a quote.
Sources and scope
Sources provide context and specification examples, not seller endorsements or evidence of testing by our team. Conditions for each order are checked separately.
